Would you agree that there are plenty of libs who blame America first for all of the world's problems?

apparently thinking freely and creating your own views and ideas of the world makes you unpatriotic. and obviously questioning anything your country does in regards to foreign policy makes you the devil. dissent is never an option.

Because they are.
Whenever I hang out with libs, I crack Bush jokes.
Whenever I hang out with conservatives, I take out a map, pin it up on the wall and start asking "Who do we nuke first?"
I'm a killer at social functions. The life of the party baby.

not really, we see a problem and try to figure out.
we dont just assume we're always right, there is nothing wrong with self reflection

You said "we." I thought you considered yourself a pragmatic moderate??
Anyway, self reflection is fine. That's hardly what I'm talking about. I'm talking about those many people who blame America for any problem in the world.

yes i said "we" and i'm certaintlyl not a liberal democrat.
I've said before, i'm fiscally conservative (which neither repub's or dems seem to be) and if it werent for republicans conservative social views and constant yielding to the christian right, i'd consider them as a viable party.
but i'm lumped in left categories (and on some i'm very left) especially on my war stance, so that is typically what defines us as unpatriotic (apparently seccesion is patriotic)
but to me saying we all blame america isnt fair
i do believe we're wrong on many things.
I'm a bit of an isolationist, it does sadden me that US hasnt learned from UK or France's mistakes in the past, or even our own

I don't see much of that happening in regards to the war. While I criticize Bush as much as the Dems I don't see them proposing any exit strategy other then getting the fuck out. Yea, that one was tough to come up with. How about something with a little thought behind it?

and honestly i don't see a great difference in the simple just get out plan of the democrats and the staying course plan of the republicans. we've been led down one primrose path long enough, why not try a different one?

What does "plenty of libs" mean? 10, 20, 100, 1%, 2%... There are plenty of people (to borrow your phrase) who place their support on the other side of the aisle who blame all of the worlds problems on the American Governement (especially the ills at home).
I've never been quite sure what patriotism means. Conservatives these days seem to think that it means waving their flags and pounding their chest loadly. Liberals aren't so boisterous (but that will change as the elections close in) but that doesn't mean they love their country any less, does it?

patriotic: inspired by love for your country
Liberal Democrats have changed ever-moreso since Bush43.
It used to be that Liberal Democrats seemed to stand for Federalism of everything.
Now, the Dems have gotten to the point where they stand more for Globalism than even Federalism. Their views tend to want us to look to the World's viewpoint and how we affect the rest of the world.
Conservatives want to eschew World opinion in an effort to promote at-home policy.
Now, a liberal would say that it's in our best interest to keep the rest of the world happy.
A conservative would say that we were at our strongest point when we were smacking down the Berlin Wall and not really giving two craps about what the world thought...they bought what we were selling, and it worked...especially in the Clintoon years.
So, liberals put the world interests in front of our own...that tends to leave one with an opinion that they aren't as patriotic.

i dont think liberals put worlds view ahead of us, they just dont thinking making other countries being like us is a good idea...
i dont think waving a flag and singing god bless the USA by lee greenwood while wearing a confederate flag t-shirt is patriotic.
I've brought this up before, the south (conservative base) is somehow the most patriotic area?

First of all, regarding the Southern Confederate flag-wearers, ever hear of a Southern Democrat? I'd imagine that's where the whole Confederate thing came from...if I recall, Lincoln was the first Republican President (even though Dems love to portray Republicans as bigots, slavemasters, and the black Republicans Uncle Toms or worse).
I absolutely think liberals have been putting the world ahead of us, primarily because the rest of the world are the only ones that adopt their Socialist views. They have to look to the Chirac's, the Chavez's, and the Chinese for support because they are alone in this country. Nobody wants to give up their freedoms. Few want to actually cede more of their paycheck (usually, the ones that are willing are the ones who have a way to suck that money back into their acct anyway).
If you want to be patriotic, stop doing shit to undermine the authority of this country. Stop trying to naturalize a bunch of people who BROKE THE LAW entering this country. Stop trying to demoralize the troops by declaring the War lost before it's over. And stop trying to governmentalize every last thing that the welfare receipient (i.e. Surefire Dem votes) wants to add to his bank acct. We revolted because of taxes, and if you keep raising 'em, you'd better outlaw dissidents, because someone's bound to do their best tea impression, and the only downside is that he's already proven he could swim at Chappaquiddick.

so you can be pissed about taxes, but not the war?
I'm aware of Southern democrats, dixiecrats, they've all pretty much switched to the Republican Party.
Yes, lincoln was a republican? and?
How many black republicans are in congress right now?

lincoln made the emancipation proclamation to ensure france and britain wouldn't help the confederacy.
