I'm wanting to build a rifle on the ar platform. 6.5 Grendel or 6.8 spc?
I found this picture, it makes me LOL.

I'd recommend the 6.8. There's no way a 6.5 will stop a gay man intent on converting you.

you said grendel.
The only way to beat grendel is with some Beowulf, and he's been dead for years now.

The .50 Beowulf only comes in a bolt action upper.

Kick >>> 6.5.
So why do you need such a big gun?
Overcompensating?

I already have a bigger caliber rifle than either of the 2 mentioned in this thread. I'm thinking about building a rifle. I like rifles.
Shouldn't you be posting about something you have a clue about, like midgets or how to go weeks without sex?

I know you like rifles, you chatter about it. I wasn't aware that building them was a hobby of yours, I thought you just liked to buy them, shoot them, and prepare them for armageddon.
If 'having a clue' is a prerequisite for posting, I could point to a few other people around here that you should be having a discussion with.

It's a hobby that I'm interested in, haven't done it yet. I've done some minor things. Changed the buffer tube, spring and stock on my ar, changed the stock and forearm on my ak to us made parts so it would be legal to shoot it with high capacity magazines, refinished an old 20 gauge shotgun I have laying around. Put a bipod on my .308.
The EBR's that liberal gun grabbers are so afraid of (Evil Black Rifles) aren't about gunning down 100's of innocents or going to war in the minds of 99.999% of their owners. They're about the fun of customizing, building, adding accessories. They are not automatic fire, no matter how many times the media wants to write articles about automatic assault weapons.

That is an ar15 lower receiver. That's the part which is sold as a gun. $100 and up. Add the parts to it, then put a barrel on an upper receiver and put the 2 together.

This is an ak47 unbent receiver. It costs $12. Bend it, drill it, add the parts. Tribesmen in Afghanistan build these ak rifles in caves with hand tools.

I actually think that's pretty cool. I've dissassembled rifles and shotguns, replaced stocks and such in the past... it's amazing how simple a gun is, when you get down to the guts.
