I have been coming here for a few years and this is what I have noticed, not only on this site but others.
A) Solid points and/or topics that are relevant are rarely touched on. Usually those threads get covered up with "gossip" and/or partisan hack bullshit.
B) Threads with the most posts and/or attention receive it due to misinformation, name calling, and generally tomfoolery.
In closing, I feel that message boards like this one are not a place to actually debate any real topics. This is simply a place where everyone can avoid real issues and make up "templates" of the liberals or conservatives they envision due to a few issues.
So I reason that it is much easier to lie, berate, and stereotype than it is to actually have a real coherent thought. We don't come here to change/make up our minds. We come here to try and find justification to our position and "wolf pack" on others with unfamiliar ideas. When that doesn't work we avoid posting on the issue. So whenever there is a real topic to discuss we just don't have the heart to say anything. Is it because we are undecided or scared or just stupid. I don't know but something has to give eventually or we're all in a boat load of shit. I don't mean some of us. ALL!

I agree with much of what you say.
At the same time, I enjoy coming here to learn about other's points of view. There are some issues I'm not completely off the fence about, and some of the feedback here makes me think.
Sometimes I learn something of value.

I'm willing to debate and discuss any issue.
The 'post-bytes' are the norm, because it's not a great format for an essay.

I'm so tired of the liberal/conservative bashing. I prefer to bash politicians which make poor choices (98% of them) regardless of party affiliation.
I think the "liberal media" and "crazy neo-cons" is way out of control.
We have some really important issues right now and I wish people would stick to those issues instead.

To be honest, both Repubs and Dems want us to choose sides between the two of them, and fight tooth and nail to defend that side. It keeps us from getting a third party (or more) in with more than a token representation. That would cause havoc for the current political structure.

I think the last few days the squabbling has deminished substantially. There has been interesting content added by intelligent posters to fill the time of bored people who don't have to resort to fighting or rebuking poor journalism to fill some down time. At least that's how it works for me. So welcome Puke and Dom.

Except his opinion that everyone was stoopid or an idoit if they didn't agree with him 100%.

Well, I didn't say he had exceptionally good points or anything. Just fun.
