TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Maybe a congressional race was so nasty that a large number of voters simply didn't want to check the box next to either candidate.
That's what state Sen. Mike Bennett said he believes happened in the now-infamous District 13 congressional race.
Hoping to prevent a repeat, he persuaded the Senate Ethics and Elections committee to approve a bill, SB-494, on Monday that would require ballots to have the additional option of "I choose not to vote."
That option could not win a race, and the actual candidate with the highest number of votes would win the election.
Bennett, R-Bradenton, said the no-choice option would enable uninformed or disgusted voters to opt out in a way that clearly displays their intention to abstain for elections officials.

Getting people to agree on something stupid like putting useless options on a ballot is easy. Getting them to agree on fixing real issues takes work.

It's a trick these f*cks are using to sucker the peons into jury duty, as the voting rolls are where they pick them...Appealing to their inner demons....
At least, I hope...Any other reason is dumb.

Is the new new slogan and Credo for the Neo Cons and Religious Right.
After giving the American people the screwing of their life with Bush and his Iraqi War.
They've decided to do the right thing.
'I Choose Not To Vote'
Thank you, and may God reward you for that.
I wonder what happens if "I choose not to vote" beats the other candidates.

Now that would be funny.
Back in 1966, when my Dad moved us to the mountains of Colorado west of Denver, the small, historic town of Georgetown ran a dog for mayor and he nearly won the election ("Charlie Beagle" lost by two votes). Now I was just beginning 6th grade that Fall, but I remember it very well. Georgetown was 12 miles west of where I lived and it was the county seat.
Then again, the same town ran a stripper for mayor just a few years back - and she won. http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/1870667/detail.html (she got into a lot of trouble over the years).

What would be great is if a professional wrestler ever won.
Oh wait.

Yeah.....but Jesse won in Minnesota. You know, people currently associate southerners with their love of pro "rasslin" entertainment (forgive me if I cannot use the term wrestling in association with those in the pro industry - I spent 32 of my 51 years on the mats). But at one time, Minneapolis was the seat of the American Wrestling Association (AWA). The hero in the sport was Vern Gagne, who wound up owning the AWA (which is why he was still champ at 60 I suppose). And Jesse started with the AWA. So I presume they still love the "sport" in Minnesota.
I have it! How about a professional bodybuilder turned actor?
