NEW YORK (AP) — David Stockman, a former top budget official in the Reagan White House, was charged Monday with securities fraud after a probe that focused on possible financial fraud at an auto parts company he headed before it collapsed into bankruptcy.
Stockman was the former chairman and CEO of Michigan-based Collins & Aikman, which makes auto parts.
Stockman and others face charges related to allegations they misled the company's investors, according to the indictment brought by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan.
Stockman's attorney, Elkan Abramowitz, confirmed the charges and said he would have further comment later in the day.
