I have my own little theories. I'll run through a few points, and then try to tie it up neatly.
- First of all, $5000 an hour seems like an awful lot to be with a chick, doesn't it?
- Next, the whole intention to monitor the finances etc. was supposedly because they thought he was engaged in some form of fraud.
- The soundbite from the wiretap released to the Press was rather non-descript. The reason presumed was that he was being discreet.
- There have been many steps taken to not connect Hillary or Bill Clinton to Spitzer.
- Spitzer's wife has been fully supportive, "standing by her man."
So, my theory is that this could be a coverup. I think there's plenty of legs to this story, but now he has effectively "called off the dogs" by resigning and admitting to hiring prostitutes. I'm not convinced he was into prostitutes. It wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility in my mind that the "escort service" was some form of elaborate front to embezzle money, or perhaps even funnel money to a campaign.
I think for me, the one kicker is the amount he spent. Almost $100,000. On hookers.
Riiiiiiiiiight.

good place to put this. I think odds are he really liked hookers. However, it does seem like an awful lot to spend. High priced hookers, or hookers at all is a world I am unfamiliar with so I have no idea how much a hooker normally costs, but thousands seems excessive.

Also, I don't think he was funneling money into a campaign. Could be something else, but I am sure he wasn't funneling it to the Clinton's. I think they are distancing themselves cause the guy was caught with a hooker. That is all.

Yeah, the Clinton thing is a bit off the wall. I'm about 90% sure that there is more to the story than meets the eye, but his opponents got what they wanted, which was his resignation. And it sounds like it wasn't just Republicans that despised the dude.

He was pretty disliked. Read an article in the New Yorker about him. Stepped on a lot of toes. Sometimes it was good thing, but it got him in trouble.

Stepping on toes isn't what got him in trouble.

I was thinking about some of the details that don't add up.
This guy was a smart attorney. He knew about the funds tracking done by the banks, and he couldn't think this wouldn't get noticed. There's something more here, and we'll never know. I wonder if something involving organized crime or a deeper political agenda (NY Dem gets in trouble, surmise a link to Hillary... I'm not pointing at Republicans, it could be someone who desperately wants to promote Obama....)...

Yeah, I just can't get over the fact he spent so much money. Unfortunately he was such a bastard that the pols were happy just running him out of town and leaving questions to never be answered.

so I have no idea how much a hooker normally costs,
When I was a young Marine hitting various ports around the world, the hookers we encountered working the ports utilized the "international" language: "Hey Marine, fu@ki $ucki, five dollah!" Whether in Europe, the Orient or the Middle East!!!!!!! Now I'm thinking, if I would have done one per day, for an entire year, it would have only cost $1,825.00. Of course, one would say, "Yeah, right, but Spitzer at least hired a 'classy' good-looking call girl." To be completely honest, some of the 19-20-year old Italian girls that were working the ports were every bit as good looking as the gal Spitzer was seeing.
Anyway, I rarely ever partook in the events. And when I did, it was free. An older buddy of mine convinced the gals that I was a "cherry boy," so they had to do the freebie thing. In truth, the non-hookers I picked up at the discos in Europe, I spent a ton of money on........and didn't always hit the home run.;)

He spent 80 grand on hookers at around 4 grand per episode. That's only 20 encounters.
For a white liberal that's only 40 minutes of sex. Hell, maybe ten minutes. It's a wonder there's any money left in Spitzer's campaign fund.

Are you saying that conservatives have more staying power?
That WOULD explain why Ron Jeremy has such a big d^%&...

Yes I am. They're like rabbits. 2 hunches, quiver and fall off, then go looking for the next one.
Only explanation I can find for Clinton and the Kennedys.
