Very sad.
Just goes to show there's crazy people everywhere that don't respect life nearly enough.
Some idiots calling in to the radio talk shows saying that the problem was more students weren't carrying guns. Disgusting.
reports range from 22-32 dead, and at least 28 wounded. This is huge. the largest school shooting ever. People are disgusting. He was using two 9mm handguns, and killed people in a dorm and classroom. Obviously mentally ill, and obviously had access to handguns.

Well, we've had mentally ill astronauts. So, even the best screening process can't catch 'em all. Sometimes people just snap and lose touch with reality. I can't imagine what would compell a person to do this, though.

Yes, I know. I can't either.

I really hope this isn't a tipping point or cause anyone to try this at another school in the near future.

Among the materials are 23 QuickTime video files showing Cho talking directly to the camera about his hatred of the wealthy, Capus said
I'd like to know his financial background now.
Think of it...About to graduate...Northern Virginia (Huge bubble area)...Goes to school with quite a few well-to-doers...Comments about the "wealthy"...Just got a speeding ticket.
Hmmmmm....Jealousy, anger and spite perhaps. Combine that with a little wacky in the brain...Voila...
Somebody needed to tell this guy that all he needed for that pimp ride and crib was a signature and a pulse.

Yes, there is a big debate over whether or not that should have been done. What do you all think? What goes too far? Why show things like this and the Columbine videos and not show the coffins of our heroes coming home?

I feel that it is true that if a teacher or someone else had a gun that he would have been stopped fast. I do not currently own any guns but I feel that our founding fathers had a very legitimate reason for making this the 2nd amendment in the Bill of Rights. I have always been an advocate of self defense. Fear is propagated to society and it makes us weak. If a few people would have stood up they could have stopped him. Just like in the airline hijackings. How in the hell are you going to stop me with a box cutter? It is ridiculous. Our society would rather teach you to lie down and die than to fight for your rights. We are no longer proud or free.

I disagree. Allowing people to carry guns on campus may have saved lives here, but in total would cost lives IMO.

right because you've been in these situations(mass shooting, hijacked plane) and know exactly how you would react. give me a break. excuse these poor folks for not being as big a hardass as you.
Having people carry guns may have prevented the VT shootings (I don't think they would've, but it's possible), however, how many more individual shootings (or maybe 2 or 3 people being shot) would occur as a result to more people having guns? Would the result over a year be more than 32 people?
Lowering the number of victims per incident, but raising the number of incidents doesn't really lower the fatalities...just spreads them out.

There are lots of hardasses in the media right now. The biggest knob is Glenn beck. Is that guy ever right?

I saw him maybe the night after, and he is a dick. Essentially started off his program by saying this didn't effect him as much as other things, and that it was society's fault.

I'm biased, but I think the biggest idiot is Jack Thompson trying to blame video games for this. Hell he even blamed Microsoft for putting out Counter Strike, the game the kid played in high school. Microsoft had very little if anything to do with Counter Strike.
He did an interview with someone and they ripped Thompson apart, he basing all of this on his assumptions. Freaking moron.

it's pretty sickening. these poor kids and professors aren't even in the ground yet and you have people questioning why they didn't do anything and calling them wussies.
