That pretty much means we need to start building some nuke plants....

America should ban the construction of new coal-fired power plants and charge industry for creating greenhouse gases to generate money for investing in clean technology, Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards said Saturday.
"People ought to have to pay that want to generate greenhouse gases," Edwards said at a global warming rally that is part of a nationwide day of demonstrations aimed at drawing attention to climate change.
Edwards said charging polluters could generate up to $40 billion to invest in clean technology to "get us off our addiction to oil."
America represents four percent of the world's population but produces 25 percent of the world's greenhouse gases, he said.
"We are an offender," Edwards said, adding that America can't convince other nations to cut back on greenhouse gases until the U.S. reigns in emissions. "We have to clean up our house first."
The former North Carolina senator, who was John Kerry's running mate in the 2004 presidential election, said the U.S. needs to put a cap on carbon emissions, and should achieve an 80-percent reduction in greenhouse gases by 2050.
"That is an aggressive goal but an achievable goal," Edwards said, noting that Americans need to change their driving habits, use more energy efficient light bulbs and thermostats that tell consumers how much energy they are using.
"We need you, we need America to be willing to be patriotic about something other than war," he said.
Saturday's event was part of a national Step It Up 2007 campaign organized by a group of students from Vermont's Middlebury College and was expected to be among more than 1,300 actions planned in all 50 states.
"This is a crisis. This is not an issue for the future. It is an issue for now," Edwards said, noting that the affects of global warming would be catastrophic. "It will make world war look relatively mild by comparison."
