Just checked my student loan and my last payment cleared. Paid in full it says. What a relief. They were hitting me for 8.022% interest on an education loan, seems a bit high to me. Seems like when someone gets a better education they make more money and pay in more taxes. I took out the loan so I can't complain but I will say that I had no idea that they set the rate once a year regardless of the economy/fed rate. Another thing they love to do is try to set you up with a deferment so they can compound that interest.
I say to the Dept of Education
Compound this!

Congrats on getting that paid off. I remember when I made my last payment. It was a good feeling.

I'm in deferment right now, but only about half are accruing interest (I know, that's still too much)...mine really won't be that bad...it's the wife's that are killer. I had about half of what she did.
She locked hers in at 3% a few years ago, though.
