What Time Limit?
For those of you that weren't around, or are too young to remember.
We were kick out of Nam.
Anyone that doesn't think so, is in denial.
Leading up to that period, the people in the USA were as divided as we are now.
There were similar debates about time limits, three months - six months - a year and so forth.
Meanwhile, are guys were getting killed over there.
Next scene I remember is the one where we have people being rescued by a whirlybird on the roof of the US Embassy.
My point is, we had our choices of how to get out, but instead we allowed the worse scenario possible.
We were kicked out.
More needless deaths, because No One wanted to admit that it was over.
In a way, they did us a favor in kicking us out, otherwise we would still be there. ... just like we're still in Korea .... and I left there in 1953.
All in all, we survived the kickout in Nam.
They are better off.
We have formed a relationship with them, and we are one of there bigger customers.
The USSR failed to learn from our mistake.
Now I know that you and I will agree with this.
The USSR is one big city. :)
Well, the USSR thought that they could help out the people of Afghanistan.
Now I don't remember exactly what their rational for invading Afghanistan was, but it was either to look for WMD, or to spread Communism to the needy people of Afghanistan.
Back in the Kremlin, the people and the troops were told something to the effect that they would be greeted by the Afghanis with flowers and sweets.
Obviously, the USSR learned nothing from our Viet Nam mistake.
Afghanistan did not receive them with flowers and sweets.
The USSR was drained of men, tanks, whirlybirds, and lots of money.
When they left Afghanistan, dragging there tails behind them, they were totally drained.
The Soviet Union's copied mistake of the US Nam error, was a major blow that led to the breakup of the USSR, .. which led to the end of the Cold War.
We lucked out when they copied our mistake.
Now, did we learn anything from Nam and USSR Afghanistan mess?
Well let's see?
We've got the Born Again Cowboy from Crawford, and his side kick Sleazy Dick.
The question is:
Are we going to play around with a Time Limit while our men and women are in harms way, or are we going to get them the hell out of there NOW?
