Wall Street advanced in early trading Tuesday after the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority said it will invest $7.5 billion in Citigroup Inc. -- a vote of confidence for the nation's largest bank, which has suffered severe losses amid the ongoing crisis in the mortgage market.
I remember the good old days when Abu Dhabi was a song about Garfield mailing his friend Nermil....What a sham(e)....

Debt convertible to equity. It's a pretty good deal for both sides actually.
Did you get in on some call options?

That 12800 tip was a good one. But no. It has become a moral decision for me at this point. I will gladly pass on wealth if this is the price. I can live more than comfortably on my ability alone.

Pimping out a whore is an ability, I suppose...so I guess option trading is as well in that light.

How do you feel about the insurance business?

How do you feel about the insurance business?
Depends on the type...
Homeowners? After seeing the implementation after a few canes' down here, I'd say it is a good idea that, unfortunately, has been bastardized.
Auto? I'm glad it's required.
Disability? The best insurance to have.
Life? At this point it's more of a wealthier person's way to pass down wealth to his/her children IMO than actual "insurance" regarding catastrophe. (Different types merit different arguments, of course.) I'll probably have a significantly small term insurance policy on my wife and myself, which I'm actually looking into next week now that the baby draws near...50-100 grand (tops)...Our house could be paid off on that and my wife has a degree in mechanical engineering which will more than support her and 1-2 children. Should be a drop in the bucket....Of course, the minute I say "cancer"... We'll see.
Health? I have significant issue with uninsured being charged more than insured does for services...Not to mention it has created wealth redistribution to healthcare professionals that is ridiculously out of whack IMO with what it should be....I think health fees would be much more reasonable without the insurance industry being involved...The market would dictate as such...But that's a theory. I won't go without health insurance if my blood is pumping...That's for sure.

So there are methods for protecting security assets using options. Buying put options is similar to fire insurance. Selling call options limits downside risk.

If the housing and stock markets were not as they were, I would be self-insured. Would society be better? Maybe, maybe not...But I guarantee you I would be self-insured.

I see insurance as a necessary evil. I don't like the way that most insurance companies do business. The amount that they take in compared to the amount they pay out in claims is too high. I would like to see insurance companies trend more towards online sales and cut out the high residuals they pay to sales personnel. This is coming from a guy whose father makes a decent income from residuals.

Creates business and income for paper pushers...who are some of the most inefficient of them all based on some of the sh*t I see...Wasteful. I do the books for more than a few insurance agencies...I'm not impressed with what I see...So I know that sh*t is translating back to what we pay for. Pisses me right off.
