Things left out or possibly things that are too harsh.

I doubt we back off because of "too harsh" opinions, but I'm willing to read and consider them.

I don't imagine there'd be too much moderation needed here. So far everyone is pretty good, regardless of some major differences of opinion.

Roy has authorization but he's not the most hands on moderator type in the global wide Fisher-Sullivan internet empire. He will lay the smack down if need be, but he is a busy man.

This is an e-mail that is still being distributed, some say by the political right to discredit Obama.....fear tactics work unfortunately for alot of people in this country....so if we dont come right out and say we dont want a black president, we can tell everyone hes a muslim terrorist!

Example: [Collected via e-mail, 2006]

THE ENEMY WITHIN!

This is the "dude" that some people want to be the next President of the United States

Scary isn't it???????

Speaking bluntly, in a real presidential election, no one in their right mind would vote for Obama. That would be like voting for the guy who just moved in down the street from you, that you wave to from time to time but don't know a thing about. That's Obama. He's been a US Senator for about 100 days, give or take a week. Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a radical Muslim while admitting that he was once a Muslim, mitigating that damning information by saying that, for two years, he also attended a Catholic school.

Obama's father, Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. was a radical Muslim who migrated from Kenya to Jakarta, Indonesia. He met Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, a white atheist from Wichita, Kansas at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Obama, Sr. and Dunham divorced when Barack, Jr. was two. Obama's spinmeisters are now attempting to make it appear that Obama's introduction to Islam came from his father and that influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya immediately following the divorce and never again had any direct influence over his son's education. Dunham married another Muslim, Lolo Soetoro who educated his stepson as a good Muslim by enrolling him in one of Jakarta's Wahabbi schools. Wahabbism is the radical teaching that created the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad on the industrialized world. Since it is politically expedient to be a Christian when you are seeking political office in the United States, Obama joined the United Church of Christ to help purge any notion that he is still a Muslim, which, ideologically, he remains today.

The scare thing works both ways. "The Republicans want to eliminate Social Security" and "The Republicans want to eliminate the school lunch program" have worked to get a lot of people to vote for Democrats. My favorite was Bill Clinton's famous line: "The Republicans are taking food out of the mouths of babes" which is especially ironic when food and babes are probably the two things Clinton specializes in.

I agree, and even a thread to discuss "Is the U.S. ready for a black president" is something that could make a good debate...If racist remarks could be kept out of it....I found the article that was posted offensive, from its title to its content...Two blacks that have run for president in the past, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would not make good presidents...Is it because they are black? Obviously not!...they had lost most of their credibility due to controversy they were involved with previous to their running....as far as Obama goes, I have met him, I think he is a very charasmatic politician...does that mean I will be voting for him? Only time will tell, but if I dont vote for him it will certainly not be because he is black!

I'm not going to vote against him because he's black. Like I said before, I voted for his opponent in the senate race, and his opponent is blacker than he is.
I'm going to vote against him because he's one of the top 3 most liberal office holders in the US.

I cant believe you voted for his opponent, he even embarrassed the republicans, and not because he was black, he was nuts!

The only problem I had was his reparations quote, and he explained that to my satisfaction.

Refresh my memory.

"They call me Doctor Dream and the doctor is in" -- Alan Keyes, introducing his radio show every day.

I don't endorse it, but I kind of see his point. He was brought in as a mercenary by the party. Kind of like Hillary in NY.

for anyone who wants to be a viable candidate, I think you got to leave your extremist views (either left or right) in your inside voice and not blurt them out for everyone to hear!

I'm a politician, and I'm honest.

I'm also not going very far and am universally hated in my home county.

Thank God that Dad taught me how to defend myself.

Never heard of lamb cake.

Jesus was the lamb led to slaughter.

All the bunny does is bring pretty eggs and candy.
