Some of the article:
Charles Weinacker, owner of Pet Friendly of Fairhope, Ala., recently notched an unusually large $1.2 million in orders from Wal-Mart, Whole Foods and other stores. They were largely buying his organic dog food after traces of melamine were found in many other brands of pet food, sparking a massive recall.
But Weinacker wasn't able to secure a line of credit from a local bank to buy boxes, labels and raw materials to fill the orders. He needed the loan, he says, because the big chains don't pay him until about two months after he delivers the merchandise. After a search of several months, Weinacker ultimately snared a $3 million line of credit but at nearly double his typical 7% interest rate.
Loan officers "are scared to death, 'cause they get fired if a loan goes bad," he says. "It's just been very frustrating, because we tried to grow so damn quick."
Tom Doyle, owner of Appleton, Wis.-based robotics maker QComp Technologies, faced a similar quandary after booking $5 million in sales in just a month from food and glass industry producers. The $8 million manufacturer needed to buy parts and hire employees, but when Doyle tried to increase the company's line of credit 50% to $900,000, the bank asked him to pledge personal assets as collateral.

Part of me loves it. I don't like that it's going to kill our economy, but on the other hand these banks need to eat their shit. They created the mess by handing out money to those they knew wouldn't pay...too bad for them the houses they foreclose upon are moving at the pace of Rosie O'Donnell past a buffet line.

I'm amazed that lefties are proposing hardcore bailouts for those who never intended to pay in the first place...just wanted the free "housing" money....That's a lot more than just "bleeding heart" level...

Not really, it's kinda the status quo. Because Johnny Moron needed two SUVs, an HDTV plus 500 watt 5.1 Sound System, two four-wheelers, a Harley, and then decided to let the bank lend him $400,000 for a house, it's my fault. At least that's the way the liberal thinks.

It is very bizzare. They are passing up a HUGE political opportunity to point the finger at bank deregulation and say "Look at what the Republican degregulation of banks has wrought."

Nobody has blamed you. The only people I've seen blamed are the banks and the people getting the loans.

If they institute government payoffs, the burden of paying it off (the blame in essence) shifts to the American public. Business as usual.

But that's not placing blame on you.
If we were all to get into a discussion on what we believe our money should and shouldn't get used for, I think there'd be just as many gripes about Conservative spending (oxymoron?), particularly under the current regime.

You're right, and that would be the disingenuous thing to do. Why? Because only ONE person is to fault for not learning the valuable lesson of thinking through that signature on the dotted line. That's the idiot who signs it. Anybody who goes out and purchases a house they can't afford deserves to be bankrupt and start over. Yes, the banks deserve some blame for letting it happen, but the wolf is ALWAYS at the door.
Keep taking away the idea of responsibility. Kids in high school are rarely taught the truth about economics and law. They go out and think the credit card is a free trip to The Gap and Modells. They don't realize when they sign a paper that it's not only binding, but that there are huge consequences for the choices they make.

But, they could afford the house with that gem of a deal the bank and/or realtor sold them on.
I don't disagree that it comes down to personal responsibility, and thinking ahead. That's one reason I didn't buy a house when a realtor dangled that interest only loan in front of me...
But just like most issues with money, there are two sides to blame. The dupers and the dupees. The dupers for taking advantage of people the probably KNOW won't be able to meet their end, and the dupee for trusting that someone's not out to skull fuck them.
And Mark Duper is the head of it all.
I'll concede that my wording wasn't right. Burden was the word I meant.
Gotcha. There I'll agree.

Yes, but the people of the US have to suck up tons of money through Bankrupcies. Bankruptcy is a government safety-net to give people who loose control of their financies a second chance. In the past there were Banking regulations to prevent people who CLEARLY could afford the loans they were taking out from getting those loans. Those regulations were striped away and now, here come the Bankruptcies. Which means billions laid at the tax-payers feet.
Gotcha. There I'll agree.
Well, I should say agree to an extent. It's not solely your burden, but the burden of anyone that pays taxes.

I googled skull fuck. Most entries are not appropriate for this site. Most, in fact.
However, the most gruesome of them all, I could not resist sharing.

I can remember a version of myself who would've thought that was the coolest family in the universe. There is a Bruce Springstein song about the good ol' days that I think I'll listen to now.

Poor kid. You can make your own decisions, but don't do that to the kid. They need to put kids liek this in re-education camps so that they can be eased back into society.

Well, they were just a couple kids that were born in the USA, and when they were born they were born to run, maybe run down Thunder Road.
I love the Boss. Good Democrat BTW. It was the definition of irony that so many pro-war Reaganites were turning up Born in the USA when it was in no way a supportive song for their side.
Born down in a dead man's town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
You end up like a dog that's been beat too much
Till you spend half your life just
covering up
Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Got in a little hometown jam so
they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land to go
and kill the yellow man
Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Come back home to the refinery
Hiring man says "son if it was up to me"
Went down to see my V.A. man
He said "son don't you understand now"
Had a brother at Khe Sahn
[ Lyrics provided by www.mp3lyrics.org ]
fighting off the Viet Cong
They're still there he's all gone
He had a woman he loved in Saigon
I got a picture of him in her arms now
Down in the shadow of penitentiary
Out by the gas fires of the refinery
I'm ten years burning down the road
Nowhere to run ain't got nowhere to go
Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
I'm a long gone daddy in the U.S.A.
