No matter how much i try to explain to some of the smartest people I know that while history may rhyme it is not like a series of pearls on a string, all identical.. And that the interrrogative cliche, "So what else is new, crooks will be crooks", while sounding sophisticated, is indeed deepgoing disguised naivte...
They think that by utttering the above, as if a mantra, they have manifested a "due diligence", and that by uttering it once or twice a week, they make those around them understand what a shrewd and prudent investors they are.
I'm confident in contradicting them by saying that they are violating the notion of common sense, and that nothing in historical time is the same;similar in some respects, yes, but always fresh and different....Think how silly it is to assert the constant identity of many consecutive periods of history and then always being surprised at how milliions behave in conduct almost alien to common sense..
To abbreviate a rather long description, a simple summary of what has happened (which I,ve said before) is that the finaciers have, in their own way, conducted a war, or at at least an attack similar to what pirates did a long time ago...
They have raped, plundered, and Yes, literally destroyed an economy, and with it finished off the last remnants of what was a decaying culture to begin with....Yes what they did indicates a complete divorce from ethical conduct so gross, that in the future similar behaviour just has to be punished with something close to the death penalty
The temptations are just too great and the cleverness of wicked people far above the laws designed to restrain them.
If you think that a grotesque response to a "mere" economic crime, just you wait until you begin to see the collective agony consequential to their acts. Reflect upon the pain millions and millions of people , most of whom are entirely innocent of lewd finacial conduct... And because of enmiserated condition, even so called comfortable people ,who wisely invested and behaved rationally, will be in jeapordy from the hordes that werent.
