2012 Solar Storm?

So now apparently the crazy discussion that has been mocked out by most ppl has finally grown legs; the Solar Storm that occurs once every 50-80 yrs is due to hit sometime from 2011-2013. 2012 is in the middle of that fucked up sandwich, and now the conspiracy theorists who claim that 2012, the end of the Mayan calender (zomggzzzzz), is the apocalypse we will not endure seem to have a valid argument. Apparently, the precursors are all there, that this storm is going to build up for the next yr and a half and when its static reaches the earth, power grids and satelittes will be globally "zapped" and rendered useless.

Why have we never heard of this? Because the last two times it happened were in the 1800's and the 1920/30's, both of which were times where technology were not the prominent sources of life. Now they are. And a blow to our technology (much like the Y2K fiasco) could cripple society. Especially if its worldwide.

So now we have;

Religious folks claiming 2012 is the rapture, where Jesus comes down on this "day of judgement", and the world is rebuilt and "saved" and the reason the Mayan calender ended was because thats when Jesus rose again and the judgement happened.

Scientists claiming the dimensions are going to collide, and mass population will ensue, thus destroying economy and life in general, and the reason the Mayan calender ended is because no body knew WHERE they were.

Theorists claiming the 2012 Solar storm will knock out our main power source on life, and mass confusions and hysteria will ensue, and the reason the Mayan calender ended is because we had bigger fish to fry. And will ultimately die as a result.

I dont kno wtf to believe. I do think something REALLY fucked up is going to happen in 2012 tho, I just dont kno what.

I missed this one. What's the background? It sounds liek if dimensions collide, economy won't really matter (although I don't really know what dimensions colliding involves, but sounds bigger than a real estate bubble.

I think the basic background of it is that one or more dimensions are going to collide with one and other. The biggest problem with this is over-population. In essence, the worlds population could double (imagine if just the continent of Asia doubled in population how fucked would the world be?). Which is a huge huge problem. Other than that, the more far-fetched idea of it is that ppl places and things will jump thru the continuum and one or more dimensions will find themselves emerced in a different time, a different world. Sort of like time-shifting, which according to most scientists isnt really possible. Which I believe.

There was a show on USA a couple yrs ago, called The 4400. I think thats what the idea is based on as far as dimensions. Ppl showing up from other times, from other dimensions, with no logical explanation other than they just appeared.



The more normal POV on 2012 is mass-hysteria. Which, given mankinds moronic nature, seems to be the most plausible explanation. The amount of ppl and the depths of their explanations stand to grow legs on the non-believers. As of right now, the amount of ppl who DONT believe heavily outweight those who do. But once the time gets closer, I think more and more rational minded ppl will begin to invest stock in even the most far fetched situations. And thats the definition of mass-hysteria, I believe; ppl negated rational reasoning because of what the general public has come to believe. Its vicious, but imo, thats the most possible. The other explanations are more fucked up, but theyre not going to be completely disproven.
