EAST ST. LOUIS (AP) - Witnesses say a 25-year-old woman ran from car to car on Interstate 64 begging drivers for help before motorists watched her be fatally shot by the man chasing her.
Police say Ashley Oliver of Cahokia had already been shot once on Sunday afternoon by her boyfriend, 25-year-old Tommie Hill, in her red Oldsmobile Alero. The couple had been arguing.
Witnesses say Oliver then started to run through traffic asking for help. But authorities say Hill chased after her and shot her twice in the head before fatally shooting himself.
Eastbound lanes were closed for about two hours as their bodies lay on the road.
Hill's 7-year-old daughter witnessed the death from the Oldsmobile but wasn't physically hurt.
