AUSTIN, Texas – Pistol-packing Texas Gov. Rick Perry has a message for wily coyotes out there: Don't mess with my dog.
Perry told The Associated Press on Tuesday he needed just one shot from the laser-sighted pistol he sometimes carries while jogging to take down a coyote that menaced his puppy during a February run near Austin.
Perry said he will carry his .380 Ruger — loaded with hollow-point bullets — when jogging on trails because he is afraid of snakes. He'd also seen coyotes in the undeveloped area.
When one came out of the brush toward his daughter's Labrador retriever, Perry charged.
"Don't attack my dog or you might get shot ... if you're a coyote," he said Tuesday.
Perry, a Republican running for a third full term against Democrat Bill White, is living in a private house in a hilly area southwest of downtown Austin while the Governor's Mansion is being repaired after a 2008 fire. A concealed handgun permit holder, Perry carries the pistol in a belt.

I'd rather pack a gun on a jog than get bit by a snake.

Lyndon Johnson had Beagles - several of them (he once made animal activists mad when he lifted one of the Beagles by the ears in front of reporters).
I don't know, do Beagles qualify as genuine Texican dogs?

he's not allowed to.When he has 15 mill to throw into his toy collection and a license to pilot a jet copter, he should bring it up again. Hopefully the 15 mill is good for single purchase... and not a bulk order price. Then factor in the cost to operate and maintain it... hes better off joining the guard.
He can buy anything he wants, He wont be able to arm the Copter and it will look alot less imposing/cool, but I bet if he could prove a serious inquiry to Boeing/hughes/Mcdonell Doug... they would be all ears, and they do not have to sell you shit or even listen to you. The only way you would not be allowed to buy a bare bones Apache is if the operation of the vehicle requires technology that's classified. Then again since you seem to be an internet gazillionaire, start your own Aerospace Company and design and build your own. Mabye call it Roy Munson's badassjetcopter...
The argument is facetious... he thinks cause I can have 9mm he should get hellfires and hydras and ICBM's... However his only valid angles are self defense and hunting. I can actually see him trying to convince someone that he needs to use an ICBM to fill his freezer. Or a Sidewinder Air to Air to stop the mugger.
Quite simply... YOU CAN BUY WHATEVER SOMEONE IS WILLING TO SELL TO YOU. My advise would be to stay within the bounds of law go through the proper channels to get what you want. You want a 50 Cal roof mount machine gun for your hummer... there is a LEGAL way to get it. The question is are you worth allowing to have it. I can answer that for you and save you Time... NO. Blackwater is a private company and they do have military weapons, nothing as sophisticated as our military though as its not cost effective to support.

Coyotes pack structure isnt as strong as say wolves, they typically hunt in in pairs, not large packs (although they may be part of a larger pack). It's also not rare to see a solitare coyote.
And Coyotes primarily feast on smaller animals, mice, rabbits, prairie dogs, etc. A smaller dog would fit this description better then say a larger lab and smaller dogs are prone to being taken by coyotes. Some celeberity lost her dog recently to a coyote, I forget.
And no, I'm not a coyote expert. I have family that lives in AZ and they encounter Coyotes on a near daily basis. While in AZ I saw a coyote wandering (by itself) between houses looking for scraps. My parents yellow lab has been nose to nose with a coyote on occasion with no trouble, but other neighbors have lost smaller dogs to coyotes.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coyote
Coyotes attack smaller or similar sized dogs, and they have been known to attack even large, powerful breeds like the Rottweiler in exceptional cases.[57] Dogs larger than coyotes are generally able to drive them off, and have been known to kill coyotes. Smaller breeds are more likely to suffer injury or death.

He can't shit me, it's for 2 legged snakes. I once shot a clay pidgeon with a .357.
Three shots, the last one struck it.

You can also fire a gun at a coiled snake and hit it. But ya, maybe next time the Gov will be packing a shotgun for those 'snakes'.

Shotshells for snakes and shotshells won't cycle through a .380, they're finicky as it is with ball and hollow points.
I head shot a snake for fun with a snub .38 once, wouldn't want to do it if it was a rattler looking to strike.
It's an old bar saying.
"What's that there in your pocket?"
Snake protection.
Generally the snakes have 2 legs.

When I was 9 I was pretty good. First shot fired at 7 yrs old... black powder muzzle loaders with my dads friend.
Haven't tried it, but I believe I could put an end to a rattlesnake from 3-7 feet away.

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government"

How can anyone with a straight face say that, in today's day and age, a gun can save you from the "tyranny of government"? Not so much anymore. The government wants you, they gonna get you, regardless of your sidearm.

Actually, when I first read the headline, I thought Governor Perry shot and killed an alien smuggler.
Which would be plus points for his re-election bid.............more so than offing the yapping type of Coyote.
