Where on the political spectrum do you fall?
I think it's hard for me to say what I am...I chose what I think other people would say I am.

I didn't see dick head as an option in that poll.

Almost sounds like something that could have come from the founder of the
"FUCK LSU!"
movement.

That's a pretty extreme position. I have voted for Democrats before.

I have also, and have always regretted it.

I haven't had the opportunity to meet many candidates but I have yet to find a Republican whose stance on the issues more closely matches mine than their Democratic opponent OR an Independent candidate. Now that I think of it, I've never voted for a Libertarian or a Green Party candidate, either.

I've regretted several votes and I've held my nose to vote for the lesser of two evils far too many times.

This is pretty much my voting record so far. The hardcore right wants to push their morals on everyone else. We all know you can't force people to do the right thing. On the other hand the hardcore left would like a system of anarchy where you still have to pay taxes.

Complain? I see it more as watching with anticipation as the crooks and shysters fall over themselves....Like a "mystery science theater 2000" type thing....Stand back and make cracks before they bring me down with them...

At one time, that was considered the adimirable way to vote. Vote for the man/woman, not the party.
The problem is, the politicians today cower to the party platform. They often care more about winning the next election than they do running the country/state/district/county, etc.
There are very few Theodore Roosevelts available to run for the presidency in this day and age (Teddy was his own man - and infuriated his party.....and the other party when he was in the White House......but the people loved the guy).
I'm a registered Republican and have been since I was 18. I voted for some democrats over the years in non-national elections, such as Governor Dick Lamm in Colorado. But Dick was a conservative dem who did not live and die by the party agenda - thus, he was not well-liked by the party leaders (he had an ongoing battle with Jimmy Carter when Carter was in the White House and Lamm was the Colorado Gov). And of course, the Republican candidates that Lamm ran against were liberal Reps. Lamm eventually left the dem party and became associated with Ross Perot's group.
Let's put it this way - when it comes to the presidential election, there hasn't been a dem candidate I would have even considered since I first voted for the pres. in 1976. This doesn't mean I haven't voted for a dem Mayor or Sheriff. At the state and local levels, candidates can be themselves without towing the party line.
Nationally, pretty much 100 percent of the time I'll vote for the Republican candidate. Locally, I vote for the person running.
